Dorset Primary Care Trust - Commissioning Contracts

Dorset PCT Funded
April 2011 – March 2012

Schools Workshops

School based healthy eating activites will be held in identified Dorset schools that are working towards 'healthy schools plus', with obesity identified as their main theme. This work covers two main areas; working with children during school time and cookery workshops aimed at parents.

What's in Yours? - Children's Workshops
The children will learn about the balance of good health using the FSA's eatwell plate, food labelling, healthy snacks, healthy lunchbox ideas and will be able to take part in food tastings. Parents will be involved where appropriate too.

F.A.S.T. (Fresh, Affordable, Simple, Tasty) Food - Parents Cookery Workshops
Parents will have the opportunity to learn how to cook from scratch with the emphasis being on using fresh produce to create healthier and more cost effective versions of popular ready meals. They will also look at reading food labels and understanding the traffic light labelling system.
